Our dragon boat season starts in April with registration, followed by a test paddle for new paddlers interested in trying the sport and then we start paddling twice a week in May through to September. The kayak/canoe group will go out two times in a month.

Dragon Boat

  • Two boats – the 20-person Dragon Spirit, and the 10-person Dragonfly.
  • Paddle for an hour on Monday and Thursday evenings.
  • Safety protocols are followed.
  • Preseason fitness program (drop-in fee to cover hall rental)
  • Dry land instruction on paddling technique and have a paddling machine (ERG) where you can practice before going on the water.
  • Parking is available at Blind Bay Hall.
  • The boat leaves from Bayside Marina.
  • Paddles and lifejackets are provided, but you can bring your own.
  • First Aid Kit and other safety equipment provided.


  • Explore local lakes and rivers within 1.5 hours from Blind Bay.
  • Paddles happen two times a month – one Wednesdays and one Saturdays. 
  • Paddles are generally about 2 hours, followed by lunch and socializing on shore.
  • Participants provide their own kayak/canoe and transportation to the lake.
  • Basic instruction is provided on getting in and out of the boat, paddling technique and recovery from capsize.
  • Trip leader is provided for each paddle for planning and safety.
